About Artivive, 190 words
Artivive is an augmented reality platform for bringing physical work to life. Artists, designers, museums and brands use it to add a digital layer of video and animation to paintings, prints, posters, packaging, books and exhibitions, without writing code. Experiences are made in Bridge by Artivive and seen through the free Artivive app for iOS and Android, or directly in the browser with WebAR, with no download needed.
Sergiu Ardelean and Codin Popescu founded Artivive in Vienna in January 2017. Today more than 750,000 creators in 190 countries work with it. Museums including the Albertina, the Belvedere, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, the Centre Pompidou and the National Gallery use Artivive, as do universities such as MIT and Harvard and organisations such as the United Nations and WWF. For the Albertina, Artivive created the AR layer for the exhibition “Film Stills” and for the permanent collection “Monet to Picasso – The Batliner Collection”.
In 2019 Artivive became the first Austrian start-up in the Berkeley SkyDeck accelerator. Its work has won a Silver Lovie Award and the .ART Digital Innovation in Art Award (both 2023) and a World Summit Award Austria (2019).
